Ashly M. Chacko
I was born twenty-five years ago to a moderate family in Kerala, India. With my two younger brothers and my parents, we are a very cute family with no resources like a home or land etc… All of our life, we lived in a rented house. Nevertheless, my father gave us good education. Although completed my B-Tech. I was interested in acting since childhood when I used to be astonished by glamourous girls appearing on TV with beautiful dresses living in superb places. I imagined myself being there: posing for my photos to be taken. And so, after my graduation, I went on to realize my passion. I wish to have good dedication to my works as I can…. I’m not satisfied yet… I’m trying as much as I can… Because I don’t have any great contacts. I have only God’s gift: my talent that I’m looking for to execute my talent in proper way… Proper place. I don’t need heavy payments… Just need for my work…. But I wish to express my talent in a proper place.
-Changes in our entertainment industry happens fast, and ongoing education is important. That means not only do you have to create content that people love, you also have to read others’ content. After several years of qualitative deterioration, Malayalam films saw the signs of some renaissance in the last two years with the release of several experimental films, mostly from new directors.
Malayalam film directors have made their mark in the national level as well. Out of the 40 National Film Awards for Best Director given away till 2007, Malayalam directors have pocketed 12, trailed only by Bengali (14 awards). The directors who have won the prestigious award are Adoor Gopalakrishnan (1973, 1985, 1988, 1990, 2007), G. Aravindan (1978, 1979, 1987), Shaji N. Karun (1989), T.V. Chandran (1994), Jayaraj (1998) and Rajivnath (1999). There are several recipients of the Special Jury Award as well: Mankada Ravi Varma (1984), John Abraham (1987), Shaji N. Karun (1995) and Pradeep Nair (2005).
-Currently I’m making one Malayalam movie while working as an assistant director too in other films… I loved it.. So just try to study more about direction… Wish to become a good director’s assistant soon.
